We sat down with Derek Whited, our Pest Control Expert, to ask him what his most frequently asked question is this time of year. "Clients are always questioning the benefit of continuing services and interior sprays during the winter months." Derek went on to explain why it is so important to still maintain programs or apply interior/exterior spray in the cold months.

Common Winter Pests in Our Area

Winter time is when these bugs make the push to go inside your home because it is cold outside. The bugs are looking for a warm place to hibernate, and due to limited food resources, they still need to move around to find them — just as they do in Spring, Summer, and Fall.

🕷️ Spiders

Spiders seek warm shelter indoors during cold winter months, making your home a prime target.

🐛 Stink Bugs

Stink bugs invade homes in large numbers looking for a warm place to overwinter.

🪲 Boxelder Bugs

Boxelder bugs cluster together and enter homes through small cracks seeking warmth.

🐞 Asian Beetles

Asian beetles are a very common winter intruder, gathering on warm, sun-exposed walls and entering homes.

What You Can Do to Limit Winter Pests

Schedule a Fall Interior Spray

Be sure to be on the schedule for an interior spray in the mid to late Fall. Our Bi-Monthly programs hit this time of the season to give you the best protection heading into winter.

Continue Your Program Year-Round

Continue your program into the winter months, including exterior sprays, in case there are unusually warm days or pests are already inside your home.

Home Exclusion Inspection

Home exclusion can help prevent pests from getting inside. Walk around with our expert to identify and seal the spots where they may be entering your home.

"Clients who follow our program schedules and continue cold-month spraying are in much better shape come Spring."

Our Commitment to Safe Winter Applications

Our team is very cognizant of temperatures and when it is too cold to apply some of our chemicals. We never apply exterior sprays when there is a possibility the chemical may freeze before it has the opportunity to dry. The temperature at which our chemicals begin to freeze is different than that of just water freezing — and we always account for that.

We Want to Exceed Your Expectations

We encourage you to ask questions. If you haven't learned something after our conversation, or you aren't seeing any improvements, then we aren't doing our job. Reach out to our office with any questions or to schedule a consultation with our pest control expert.
